There Is No "I" In Private
Chapter Four

Lenny did what he could; throw himself against the door as the screws came loose; momentarily blockading the entrance. He was swiftly shoved aside as larger, swarthier guards shoved against the door, sending him sprawling onto the bed.
Laverne felt rather glad that he had decided to put on some shorts. Lanie's obvious irritation amused her, but she swallowed back her smile and glared at her new sister-in-law.
"Laverne, get off the sheets so we can hang them up. It's bad enough that the local media tracked down some Norman Hughes fellow and he's been telling the entire known world what a wonderful kisser you are!"
Laverne blushed, but locked her arms around her knees, "No go."
"This is a serious matter! A very serious matter! If you and Lenny ever have any children, they'll be considered illegitimate!"
"Lanie, this is 1971. I'm very sure that illegitimate kids ain't a big deal anymore."
"They are in Kulakowski, Laverne!"
"Waitaminute," Lenny said from the floor, "Do ya think...if I give up the crown, they'll let Laverne and me go?"
She nodded, "If you aren't of royalty, the purity of the liniage doesn't matter."
Lenny didn't even have to think about it. "Then I resign."

"Veenie, sweetie?" Shirley asked the little girl softly, "What do you think of this, how would you feel if mom and Uncle Carmine got married."
The little girl put her Barbie doll back down. "Do I get an iguana?"
Shirley's expression went blank. "Well, I suppose so..."
She smiled, "I wanna be a bridesmaid!"
Shirley's smile was foreboding. "Just as soon as the preacher gets here, honey."
