SETTING IN TIMELINE: Slip it in anywhere during the Milwaukee years.
SPOILLER/SUMMARY: Carmine learns too late just the lesson Shirley's been trying to teach him for years: don't fraternize with strange women...
NOTES: I've been planning this fic for over a year ;-). Thought it would be interesting to see what kind of a vampfic could come out of the L&Sverse...

Shirley rubbed her sore neck, grunting at the slight pain whispering through her body. The old movies she had been obsessed with as a child didn't inform her that being "taken" involved vague pain, wooziness, and weakness. She wondered where the rapture was, the ecstasy, not to mention the super-strength.

"Shirl?! Shirl, yer cappin' yer hand.."

Shirly looked down at herself, embarrassed to see a cap stuck to her thumb. She plucked it off.

"Boy, whatever Carmine did to you last night, it must've been good."

"Last night?" Shirley froze in fear.

"Yeah, I saw him leavin' the room for a minute, after I got up for some water," she gave Shirley a worried look, "you guys didn't...vode-o-do or anything, right?"

"No!" Shirley blushed scarlet.

"Oh...so it's a hickey, eh? Do I get to see?"

Shirley covered her panic, sniffing, "Laverne, my smut is my business."

Laverne shrugged. "Fine, Shirl. YOU don't get to see the hickey I'm gonna get from Ted Nelson: Fireman tonight!"

Shirley shrugged. She had far, far worse problems to deal with.

She knew only that she must avoid Carmine. At any cost.

He canceled the rest of his classes. He doubted seeing a panicking vampire would do the psyche of the children any good.

Pacing, he waited for darkness to fall over Marjorie Wards before informing his secretary that he'd lock up for the night.

Only then did he take the bloodless corpse of Lucille Lockwash from where he had hidden it, in the changing room.

Carefully, he wrapped her in a garment bag, and, tossing his jacket over a leotard, tried to look as casual as possible as he carried a suddenly light-as-air Lucille to his car.

He drove casually, smiling at passing cars. Trying to maintain utter innocence.

Right to Knapp Street, and down into the furnace.

He was surprised by how quickly a body burned, when it was bloodless.

Nearby, a pair of blue eyes watched, stricken in horror. Carmine didn't notice, not even when he casually swept the pink ash from the inside of the furnace, dumped it down the garbage chute, and whistled his way upstairs.

Lenny crawled out of the washer, horrified. He was glad that he had picked that washer to hide in, and he wondered if Squiggy was still somewhere, counting.

More important matters were at hand. He needed to find Laverne and Shirley, before it was too late.

Before something horrible happened to them.
