The Kosnoskis, Part 1:
Lenny's Girl, 25 Years Later
By: Katie
Twenty-Five years ago, Lenny Kosnowski and Katey DeFazio were married
in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1967 and moved to Chicago to start their lives.
In the following years, they had two beautiful children....
October 17, 1968, 7am, Evanston Hospital
Katey: We sure have a handsome son, But what are we gonna name him.
Lenny: Well i've been thinking about that, I came up with Robert Dylan Kosnowski.
Katey: Good name. we can call him Rob for short.
Lenny: Okay, we'll make it official. (writes stuff in baby book)
Two years later.... June 14, 1970, Oak Park Hospital
Laverne: Oh she's beautiful
Shirley: What's her name?
Katey: Cheryl Laverne Kosnowski, Cher for short.
Shirley: How pretty.
Katey: I wanted her first name to sound like yours Shirl, but Lenny and I thought
it would be too confusing to have two Shirley's.
Shirley: Well Cheryl sounds like Shirl, So you did kinda name her after me.
Twenty Five years later, December 23, 1992, Lenny and Katey's house.
Cheryl and Rob are grown up and home for holidays to plan the last minute
preparations of their parents 25th Anniversary Surprise Party.
Rob: Hey airhead, I hope you remembered to call the caterers.
Cheryl: Oh shut up Pizzaface, I'm on it, I just got off the phone with them
Rob: Yeah right, It sounded like an obscene phone call.
Squiggy: (walks through the backdoor) Hello.
Cheryl: Get off my case, OxyMoron, Hi Uncle Squiggy.
Squiggy: Why didn't you tell me you were fighting this morning, I would have
shown up earlier. (looking at both of them) Done? Good.
They called all the relatives and made sure they were able to attend the party.
Squiggy reserved a floor on the Sears Tower for the the party. They stopped everything when they heard Lenny's car in the driveway. Squiggy leaves
out the backdoor, he's one of the surprise guests, almost gets seen by Lenny.
Katey: I'll get those last few bags Len.
Lenny: No no, i'll get those and i'll get the kids to help us with the groceries.
(he goes around and helps her out of the car, They each grab one bag and walk
and go inside.
Lenny: Hey kids, would you get the rest of the groceries, they're in the trunk.
You're mom's exhausted.
Rob: Sure pop
Cheryl: Sure Daddy.
Lenny: (hugging his daughter) thanks hon. Goes into den and sits next to Katey.
reaches for her hand, Well that was easy, we won't have to do a thing, the kids
are going put the stuff away.
Katey: They're good kids. I'm exhausted. I could pass out.
Lenny: There's a reason they call it "Shop til ya drop" I'm so tired, I could have
sworn i saw Squiggy jumping over our hedges.
Katey: Hey if you can't sleep tonight that's what you could count.
Lenny: Squiggy jumping back and forth over hedges? hahaha!
The next couple of days they celebrate a quiet family Christmas with all the trimmings, 3 or 4 days pass and it is now the night of the party. Time flies doesn't it.
The kids are all dressed up and are at the party waiting for the happy couple.
Stay tuned for part 2..
