Lenny's Girl, Part 1

Setting: Burbank,, 1967 Laverne's apartment. She and Carmine are
Cleaning up for Katey DeFazio, Laverne's Cousin.
Laverne: There, glad that's done. The place looks great
Carmine: Yeah, I hardly recognize it. You sure we're in the right apartment?
Laverne: Very funny Carmine. Are you sure you don't have anything you need to
do, You know somewhere else?
Carmine: Oh okay, I can take a hint Laverne, besides, I have to do a singing
telegram at Burbank General, some doctor just one a Malpractice suit.
Laverne: Oh, Okay see ya later.
Carmine: Bye.
He opens the door and reveals Katey, who was about to knock on the door.
Carmine: Hi Katey, How've you been, It's me Carmine.
Katey: Carmine, wow you grew up nice.
Carmine: Wow, Thanks, so did you!
Katey: Aww c'mon, stop you're embarrassing me. LAVERNE!!!!!
Laverne: KATEY!!!!!
They run over to each other and give a big hug.
Laverne: Congratulations.
Katey: Thanks Vernie
Laverne: Katey graduated from college a couple days ago
Carmine: Oh great! Where?
Katey: Chicago University.
Carmine: Oh Congratulations.
Laverne: Carmine!!!! kill that bug, it's a big Cockroach!!!
Carmine: Okay Okay calm down... (Carmine kills it) There happy now?
Laverne: Yes, thank you.
Katey: Eww gross! i don't think i've ever seen anything grosser than that.
Lenny and Squiggy enter...
Squiggy: Hello. We just made a fresh batch of cookies, want some?
Katey: Sure, i'm starving, i'll try one.
Carmine and Laverne: Wait Katey No!!!! They're probably...
Katey: Chocolate Chip.
Carmine: What?
Katey: Yeah, try one. They're good.
They both take a cookie and try it.
Carmine: They are Chocolate Chip
Laverne: and they're good.
Laverne: Lenny, Squiggy, this is my cousin Katey DeFazio from Chicago.
Squiggy: Hi Katey, how are things in the Windy City
Katey: They're good, Windy but good.
Lenny: Hi, I'm Lenny Kosnowski, Nice to meet you.
Katey: Hi Lenny, Nice to meet you too. Kosnowski...
Doesn't that mean Help there's a hog in my kitchen.
Lenny: How did you know that?
Katey: Our neighbors in Chicago are Kosnowskis. They told us what it meant.
Lenny: Oh okay. Hey what are you doing tonight.
Katey: Well i was gonna hang out with Laverne and catch up on family gossip
but, I'm free tomorrow.
Lenny: Great? Wanna go to the beach with Squiggy and I?
Katey: Sure. That'll be great, what time?
Lenny: I dunno, What time should we go Squig?
Squiggy: I dunno, why don't we just come by after 1.
Katey: sounds good to me.
Squiggy: Oh ratso rats!
Laverne: What's a matter Squig
Squiggy: Oh i forgot, I can't go to the beach because i have to look for
some new talent. So why don't you two go.
Laverne: Yeah i have to work, I can't go either.
Carmine: Uh...me neither...um, i have to do uh...a singing telegram at
Burbank Community Hospital, some doctor won a malpractice suit.
Katey: Well Lenny, I guess it's just us. (flirting with him)
Lenny: yeah i guess so, I'll see you around 1 then.
Katey: Okay, see you then.
Lenny and Squiggy leave. Later on, Katey and Laverne catch up on
family gossip. Laverne tells her about Shirley getting married.
a couple hours later, they go to bed and fall asleep talking.
The next day, Lenny and Katey go to the beach and have a great time.
they make a sandman, and have water fights and have lunch. They have
a nice long talk about movies and music and they're best friends. Lenny
tells her all the crazy situations he and Squiggy get into and all the fun they have
and Katey tells him about all the fun and crazy things she and her friend Sara do
when they go exploring. They share a bottle of Shotz beer (it went national) while watching the sunset, Lenny and Katey kissed a long romantic kiss and
then cuddled while staring up at the sky. Around 5pm, Lenny dropped her off
at Cowboy Bills to meet Laverne and Uncle Frank for family night. They
had a great time. They looked at old photos and slides and reminisced.
The next day, Laverne leaves a note for Katey saying that she went to work
and that she would be back around 3 or 4. Katey woke up and turned the
light on, but a bulb burned out. Katey found a new bulb and went to put it in.
she grabbed a chair not really noticing that it was unstable and stood on it.
as she reached up to change the bulb, she lost her balance and fell to the floor.
She was knocked unconscious when landing on floor and hitting her head.
Lenny heard the noise and entered the apartment through that little door that
connects his and Squiggy's apartment with Laverne's. He looked for a weapon
thinking that there may be a burgular in there but put it down when he saw that
it was safe. He began searching for the thing that made the loud crash.
Lenny: Hello? anybody here? Laverne? are you okay?
Lenny: Katey? are you alright?...If you can hear me, say something.
anything. Laverne, if this is some kind of joke, it's not funny?
Okay, I'm coming upstairs, if you're not decent throw something over you
cause i'm coming up there. Are you in the bathroom? Nope. not in there.
This is getting really scary, somebody answer me.
Lenny comes across what made the noise, he sees Katey lying on the floor
Lenny: Oh my god, Katey (patting her face trying to wake her up) can you
hear me? C'mon please wake up, please, Oh no....
