The Laverne and Shirley fandom first congregated on AOL message boards in the mid-to-late '90's. As AOL began to do away with these message boards, the fandom congregated at Rob's Laverne and Shirley Site, which soon became the ultimate authority on the internet for the show.

The fandom was generally harmonious, and even while Rob's site was active small fic-based groups and sites were established. The Milwaukee Group, a union of fanscript writers, made their debut around this time.

In late 1999, Rob closed down his website - resultantly the fandom scattered into several smaller groups. Chief among these were Squeakyland, and her site soon became the main outpost of the fandom. Her archive - which allowed nothing over a PG - broke barriers by posting the first (serious) Laverne/Shirley slashfic.

In Around 2002, Squeaky decided to close her archive, and Missy picked up where she left off, opening up an all-content website for Laverne and Shirley fanfiction writers.
