Summary: A walk to remember....
Notes: This all takes place in California. Also, there are some songs in here that might not go with the time period, but they do go with the mood.
Shirley sat on the blue coach with Laverne chitchatting about different things. They had a bowl of popcorn sitting on the table with two cokes and a bunch of magazines. They both had their feet propped on the coffee table. It was around 12:00 P.M.
Laverne: Ok, so...it's Friday night and what did we do? We sat home a talked...to each other!
They burst out laughing and were both practically on the floor.
Shirley (through laughter): That was so not funny! I don't know why we're laughing!
Laverne (though laughter): I know, I know!
They both calmed down a bit and started talking again.
Shirley: So...what are we gonna do this weekend?
Laverne: I don't know...probably what we're doing right now! Unless you got other plans?!
Shirley: Nope!
Laverne: All right then...it's a date!
They started laughing again at their dull plans and lives.
Shirley: Laverne, we gotta figure out something to do!
Laverne: Well....let's go somewhere!
Shirley: Like where? We don't have any money to go anywhere!
Laverne: Are kidding? We don't have enough money to work!
They started laughing again.
Shirley: Ok, ok, we gotta think serious now!
They looked at each other and then started laughing again.
Laverne: Ok...well...let's see...hmm...
They both thought of some places they could go. They came up with nothing.
Shirley: Well, maybe we should just play it by ear.
Laverne: Yeah, but that's so boring!
Shirley: Then...we can go...take a walk!
Laverne (sarcastically): Oh fun Shirl!
Shirley: Well...it's an idea! We could invite some people...like Sonny and Carmine!
Laverne (seriously): Oh fun Shirl!
Shirley: That's what I thought!
Laverne: But a walk won't last all day!
Shirley: Oh Laverne, it's past midnight now, let's think about it tomorrow...at Tara! Afterall, tomorrow is a new day!
Laverne: Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn!
They started laughing again.
Laverne (through laughter): That was so stupid Shirl!)
Shirley (through laughter): I know!
It was the next day and it was around 10:00 A.M. Laverne and Shirley were eating breakfast when Rhonda came in from the kitchen door.
Rhonda: Hi ho!
Laverne and Shirley: Hi hoe!
Rhonda: Rhonda has to talk to Shirley!
Shirley: Why Rhonda?
Rhonda: Because, now, come come!
While Shirley and Rhonda were talking, Laverne heard a knock at the front door and walked past the both of them trying to get a piece of what Rhonda was saying to Shirley even though she knew Shirley would tell her. When Laverne opened the door, she saw Carmine.
Carmine: Hey Laverne! Look, I need to ask ya something.
Laverne: Ok, what?
Carmine: Ya know, how you asked me and Sonny to go on a walk with the two of ya girls?
Laverne: Yeah...
Carmine: Well, I was wondering, could you and Sonny maybe, walk the other way, if you know what I mean? And maybe at the end of your walk, end up at his place?
Laverne: Oh Carmine, you little devil! You want to have Shirley all to yourself right! Then you're both gonna come back here and-
Carmine: No, we're not gonna do anything, I just need to have some time with her alone, so could you not come home? We're aren't gonna do anything, I just need a night with her to talk and get closer, and my apartment isn't the right place...
Laverne: OH sure Carmine! Anything you and Shirl!
They said goodbye and Laverne closed the door. She noticed that Rhonda was gone and Shirley was sitting at the table again waiting for Laverne. Laverne sat down.
Laverne: What did Rhonda want?
Shirley: Oh she just wanted to let me know that if you or I have any bad luck, it's her fault and she is very sorry.
Laverne: Why would we die?
Shirley: Because she didn't send a chain letter.
Laverne: But isn't she supposed to have bad luck?
Shirley: Yes, but she says that when she gets chain letters, she always has a little ritual like dancing around naked to turn it around on someone else she truly loves...so I guess she picked us.
Laverne: Oh, wow! What a friend huh?
Shirley: YEAH! So what did Carmine want?
Laverne: Oh, he was just confirming the walk and all...haha.
Shirley: Oh, ok...
It was around 6:30 P.M. and the sun was setting. Carmine and Sonny were at Laverne and Shirley's house waiting for them to get ready. Laverne came running down the stairs wearing cut off shorts with a red short sleeve shirt and was carrying a sweater and had on tennis shoes. She was quickly followed by Shirley who was running down the stairs wearing blue jeans with a peach colored shirt with sleeves that came down to her elbows and tennis shoes. They all left and headed for the beach.
When they arrived, Laverne and Sonny said they would go the other way and see them later. So Shirley and Carmine went their way hand in hand.
They walked on for about 30 minutes just talking about things. Then Carmine stopped and Shirley turned to face him. They were standing very close and could hear music playing from a beach house not to far away. The song that was playing was "Eternal Flame" by the Bangles.
They looked at each other and slowly, their lips met. Their arms wrapped around each other's bodies, and the wind blew gently, while the waves quietly crashed against the rocks and the sun sank in the sky as the stars formed in the bright night sky.
They stood there for a long time and then slowly pulled away. They were still close to each other.
Shirley: What was that for?
Carmine: Because I love you.
Shirley smiled at that.
Shirley: I love you too.
They started kissing again. Then they pulled away and kept walking again with Carmine's arm around Shirley's shoulders and Shirley's arm around his waist, while her head rested on his shoulder.
They walked on for quite a while until they reached the building. They walked up to Laverne and Shirley's apartment and walked in. The lights were dim and Carmine walked over to the record player and put on the song "Hungry Eyes." He walked over to Shirley and asked her to dance. So they danced there and then after a few seconds Shirley looked up at him and he looked at her.
Shirley: Carmine, do you think we should...
Carmine: ...do you?
Shirley: I think, if it feels right, do it.
Carmine: I think it feels right.
Shirley: Me too.
Shirley and Carmine started kissing again and Shirley slid her hands under Carmine blue polo shirt and pulled it off. Then Carmine took off Shirley's peach shirt so she was just wearing her bra. They staggered over to the coach still kissing. Carmine was on top of Shirley and he started to kiss her neck. Shirley slid her around Carmine's pants and unbuttoned his blue jeans then Shirley stopped and put her hand to his chest to stop him.
Carmine: What's wrong?
Shirley: I don't know.
Carmine: Shirl look, if you don't feel right doing this then-
Shirley: No, no. It feels right. I just...I don't know...
Carmine and Shirley laid there for a second in silence except for the music.
Shirley: Nothing, nothing's wrong.
She smiled at him and they started kissing again. Shirley again put her hand to his chest and this time pushed him up so that they were sitting up. Shirley looked down.
Carmine: Shirl, what's wrong?
Shirley wanted to go to the next level with Carmine, but there was something inside her that kept calling her back. She didn't know what it was and wished it would go away.
Shirley: I don't know...I want to...but there's something inside that tells me not to.
Carmine: Oh...
Shirley walked over to her shirt and put it back on. She then sat down on the coach next to Carmine who was still shirtless and looking gorgeous with his buff body.
Carmine: Shirl, it's ok...don't worry.
He stroked her hair and looked at her.
Shirley: No Carmine, we've been together for a long time, we should be beyond this! I don't understand why I'm the only one in this world who feels that she's...so innocent!
Carmine: Well Shirl, so am I!
Shirley: But Carmine, there is not anything stopping you. I want to do everything with you, but I don't know what's holding me back.
The song changed and "The Winner Takes All" by ABBA came on.
Carmine: Shirl, trust me, I feel the same way you do...I just...I'm pushing whatever would stop me away. I don't want to pressure you...I just want to help you... and us.
Shirley: I know Carmine. I just... I don't know what it is...
They just sat there and listened to the music. Soon, Shirley and Carmine were in each other's arms on the coach talking about things and listening to all the songs. Now the song "When a Man Loves a Women" came on. Shirley got close to Carmine's face and they started kissing. Shirley turned over on top of him and was straddling him. They were kissing and Carmine had his hands on Shirley's back rubbing them slowly. Shirley had her hands on he face and one hand on the coach to hold herself up.
They stopped for a second.
Carmine: Why don't get upstairs?
Shirley: Good idea.
They got up and went to the bedroom. They could still hear the music from downstairs and they lights were still dem. The song "The Cowboy in Me" came on.
It was about 12:00 P.M. now and Carmine was on top of Shirley underneath the covers. They were kissing and then Carmine started kissing her neck. Shirley closed her eyes and was breathing slowly and deeply. Carmine kissed all the way up her neck and back to her lips again. Soon, Carmine and Shirley were both breathing deeply and a little hard.
It was around 9:00 A.M. and Shirley woke up in the arms of Carmine and looked across at the bed Laverne slept in and found no one. She figured she was with Sonny.
It was sunny and bright. She felt happy to be with Carmine alone on such a nice morning. She felt Carmine move behind her. And he leaned up and kissed her cheek.
Carmine: Hi Angelface.
Shirley: Hi sweetheart.
Carmine: 9:00...it's early.
Shirley: Yeah, kinda...I wonder where Laverne is.
Carmine: Oh she's with Sonny.
Shirley: How do you know?
Carmine: Because I asked her if I could have some time alone with you...
Shirley thought a minute.
Shirley: Wait, so you asked her if you could have time alone with me just so you could have a chance to "do it" with me?
Carmine: No Shirl! That's not it all! I just wanted to talk and become closer. We haven't done anything lately together...so I just wanted to talk. I didn't think we would "do it." I really had no idea or intention to! I would never take advantage of you like that!
Shirley: ...oh...I'm sorry. Come on, let's get up.
Shirley grabbed the sheet as she got up and wrapped it around her leaving Carmine laying there with nothing. ;)
She walked down stairs and Carmine was right behind her in another sheet and they were both looking down as the left the bedroom and when they looked up they saw Laverne, Sonny, Lenny and Squiggy all sitting there on the coach and in chairs. And they were all looking at Shirley and Carmine wrapped in their sheets.
Carmine: Um...hey everyone.
Laverne: Hiya! So, how was your night Shirl?
Lenny: Ha! As if we can't tell!
Laverne nudged him and he stopped. Then Shirley and Carmine started laughing and everyone was laughing, until Mrs. Babish and Mr. DeFazio was in the door and saw Shirley and Carmine. Right then everyone stopped and got serious. Mrs. Babish and Mr. DeFazio just stared.
Mrs. Babish: Hey...every...one.
Everyone: Hi.
Mr. DeFazio: WHAT IS THIS? WHY AM I LOOKIN AT THIS?
He went on and on until Laverne stopped him.
Mrs. Babish: Oh come on Frank, we did it too! Now get over it!
Frank calmed down and walked right pass them and sat down hard on a chair and they all giggled quietly at him.
Shirley: Ok, well, we're gonna go and get some clothes!
Carmine: Yeah!
Laverne: Good idea!
She pointed to her father and smiled big and they all giggled again as he sat there with a dazed look on his face.
Shirley and Carmine ran up the stairs and closed the door. Carmine pushed Shirley up to the door and they kissed. They stopped.
Shirley: That was so embarrassing!
Carmine: Haha! I know! But at least we all got a good laugh!
Shirley: Right! Haha!
Carmine: Well, it was some night huh?
Shirley: Yeah. It was, very...nice.
Carmine: Oh it was better than that for me!
He winked and they smiled.
