Two Months Later

"Do you think mamma's an angel?"

Laverne paused in mid-step, turning toward Natashya. The little girl had a look of confusion on her face.

As always, Lenny came to the rescue. "I think she is, honey." He scooped her up and allowed her to rest against his chest.

"Okay." She paused. "Then I think she's happy now."

Lenny looked into his wife's eyes, but said to his granddaughter, "I know she is. She's with her Grandpas, and her Grandmas."

An organ began the first few notes of "Emanuel, Lamb of God", and Lenny rose, holding Natashya to his chest. The little girl had little patience for the religion she and her husband held paramount, but she was becoming better with the services as she got older.

"You know," He whispered. "Heaven is just like a new start."

Natashya's expression turned Socratic. "I like new starts." Then her face broke into an impish grin.

Lenny smiled. "A second chance. I don't deserve it."

"Yes, you do." His wife said. "For Daisy."

For Daisy, Mike had begun anew as well. He had moved closer to his parent's California hope, and begun dating Shirley's only daughter, Susan. There were still wounds that needed to be healed.

Wounds that would be cleansed by their own hands. In time, and by time.

They lifted their heads and began to sing.
