FEEDBACK: PLEASE?!
SETTING IN TIMELINE: Milwaukee, pre-Lenny's Crush
SPOILLER/SUMMARY: What appears to be a severe case of the flu leaves Lenny with strange powers, leaving others to question what the true nature of a miracle is.
Notes: Lyrics from "Chances Are" are, obviously, not my property.

Lenny stretched out, across Laverne and Shirley's couch. The press had been directed to stay away from Knapp Street, so stay away they did. '
He stared emptily at the tips of his fingers. Wondering why he had been so cursed with powers that he could not understand.
He shrugged. Well, maybe he was meant to use them in some way...
No; he had tried that. And it had failed terribly.
Face it, Kosnowski. You're a freak.
"Len...you're not a freak."
He jumped in surprise at Laverne's voice.
"What?"
She gave him a look of surprise. "Ya didn't say anything?"
He shook his head.
"Oh." Laverne continued to make her sandwich, but suddenly left off. "Len, if you didn't say anything, how did you hear me?"
"Don't ask me...I don't want to know." He sniffled.
"Aww, Len! Don't cry!" She rushed to the couch, wrapping an arm around him. But Lenny was already sobbing ardently.
"Buh-buh...I-dd-on't know what to-t- do!"
"Neither do I, Len." She sighed, stroking his hair. She didn't notice the gel there this time.
"But...Ith never gonna be okay again!"
"Lenny! Of course it is! Crying's not going to make you feel any better!" She wiped his eyes gently. "Tomorrow, we should go to a doctor."
"But.."
"Yes!"
"Okay.." He shrank back. "Oh, Len, someone'll know what's wrong, and then we can fix it."
He held her against him. "Vernie...I ain't ever said this before...but I love you."
"I love you too, Len."
"You do!"
"I didn't say anything."
"Yes you did! I guess...you were thinking it."
"I...I do, Len." She sighed. "I love you!"
His kisses cut off the rest of her speech.
And the rest of the night was magical.
