Laverne judged the passing of years by how many Christmas cards she sent out.

She smiled. Shirley would always be a constant. She crossed off a line of script, modifying her address to read 'Beverly Hills'. It was so hard for her to believe that she was sharing a home with Carmine now.

A frown as she crossed off Sonny's for the final time. Not that she had ever had the courage to send him something after asking - no, begging, Carmine for his Hawaiian address during a more desperate moment in her singleton life.

Another line through Rocco's name on the Squigman side of the ledger. She jotted down Marianne's new address and added "And Rocco Squiggman" to the header.

Skye and Brandon's address had changed twice; from two addresses in Long Island, finally to one in Brooklyn. Laverne chewed her pencil thoughtfully, hoping that she wouldn't have to modify the listing for a fourth time before the year was up. The financial crunch had hit them all hard, and Skye's job might be in jeopardy in the coming year.

Another name was x'd off of the Squigman side of the roster. She listened to a thump echoing from abovestair and grunted, trying not to imagine what Liz and Frankie were doing up there.

She added Caitlyn and Andy's new address with a small grin. They were doing well; or they should be doing well, if Andy's job holds...

The sound of Lenny slumping onto the couch beside her made Laverne jump. "Y'sneaking up on me?"

Lenny chuckled. "Nah. Whatcha doing?"

"Peeking into my crystal ball." She sighed. "I gotta wonder where we're all going, Len."

"The best place, Vernie," he pointed up to the sky.

She gave Lenny a Look, slamming her address book closed and rolling into his arms. "Not too quick, okay?"

"Nah," He squeezed her arm. "Y'want me to lick?"

"You lick, I'll seal - that's how it goes."

He smiled, affixing a label they'd gotten recently - too recently - from the American Heart Association to the first card. She was suddenly grateful that they were still on the planet.
