Life With Lenny

By B.L.Cunningham

"Blessed Jesus !"  shrieked the middle aged nun seated on the sofa, Laverne dropped the plate of  cookies on the floor and Lenny  grabbed the nearest piece of furniture, a stool from the breakfast bar to cover himself and quickly hurried backward from the direction he came.
A few minutes later there was a quiet knock on the door to the garage "Lenny... it's Sister Mary Dominic, might I talk with you  for a moment ?"  slowly the door opened, Lenny was still completely mortified by what had happened "Sister.. I.. uhmm  really sorry about that.. wasn't expecting you.. uhmm "  to Lenny's amazement, the nun laughed " I guess you didn't !  I merely dropped by to thank Laverne for the donation of the piano to Saint Michael's, it's a wonderful addition to  our music  room " Lenny did recall donating the old spinet to the local Parochial school  "there's no hard feelings" then in a thoughtful tone she added "People forget that Nuns aren't born wearing a habit & veil,  and as a very wise man once  said "Every sinner has a future and every saint has a past "  Lenny looked visibly relieved   "Thanks Sister.. I really appreciate you being  so understanding "  Sister Mary Dominic smiled and said "relax, your not the first
naked man I've
seen" As she  turned to go, she stood at the door and said "oh, there is one small favor I would like  to ask of  you..." "yes Sister..?" Lenny said " grinning at Lenny Sister  said "Sunday Mass...ten o'clock..?  see ya  there !" and gave Lenny a saucy wink.
