Life With Lenny

Lenny came  to his senses a minute later with Laverne pressing a cold can of Pepsi against  his neck & face " Here, ya  better  read  this..." Lenny said, handing Laverne the  letter .Laverne  quickly scanned the message and  slumped onto  the sofa,"Oh my God.. Lenny.. nominated  for two Oscars..?" tears slid down her cheeks "I am so proud of  you  she whispered as  she  held him close."You better call  Mike,.. see  if he's gotten his letter  yet "I will.. in  a minute, right now I just want to enjoy this moment with  my wife, my wonderful beautiful talented wife..."  Lenny and Lavern sat there  on the sofa, holding one another,looking into their backyard until the sun began to cast shadows across the lawn."Go on now... go see Mike.. don't call him, you're gonna want to share this  news in person"  Laverne  said as she urged Lenny out the  door.
Lenny used all of his powers of concentration to focus on the simple task of driving to Marina Del Rey; finally the orange VW Beetle arrived at the wood shingled apartment complex overlooking the water
Ringing the buzzer, Mike answered at once "Mike it's Lenny got some  good  news for ya !" Mike replied "Be down in a minute, got something  to pick up from the manager, meet ya  in the lobby " and Mike buzzed  him in . A few minutes later, Mike walked out of the elevator & motioned Lenny to follow him around the corner to where the Manager's office was"Oh  Mister Warren.. the postman was just here, you  got a Registered Letter.." said the 50ish woman in the office with a voice that could shatter glass "Oh  thanks Rosie... I really appreciate  it " Mike said and quickly left the small office
Lenny was grinning like a mad man as he held out an identical envelope "I'd bet ya  a million dollars I can tell ya what the letter says "Mike  looked  at Lenny and then re-read the return address and the older man seemed to go pale beneath his tan"Is this what I think it might be...? " Lenny just shrugged and said "Open it and find out " with nervous fingers Mike got the envelope opened and quickly scanned the letter  "HOLY SHIT HOT DAMN AND HALLELUJAH !" yelled Mike who then grabbed Lenny & danced him around the lobby"You sure take the  news better than I did... I passed out  " confessed Lenny "Let's get out of here... go for a walk "  said Mike  The two men walk along the marina both excited and a bit scared as to what this news meant to their futures"We gotta  call Bill "  said Lenny . Bill Evans had been both men's agent for the past six years a calm, down to earth type in a business where stress and anxiety was the norm. "This ought to shake  him up" mused Lenny "I have never seen Bill upset or even highly excited; the men agreed to request a meeting at Bill's office for nine the following morning;  Mike made the call, careful not to  give a clue as to the nature of the meeting . "Great... thanks Bill, see  ya  then !"  The men continued to walk around the marina enjoying the sea breezes and the various boats anchored there "Ya know , this is gonna  change  things for all of us.." said Mike.  Lenny sighed and said "yeah.. I know and I don't want things  to change...  I like my life just the way it is"
